Kitezilla I liked the device.  That use is for working those annoying spirals and coils down the new kite lines to the end of the line where they can spin freely out of the line.  The spirals are the result of the kite lines holding a memory of the line storage spools, upon which they were wound and stored.  Q-power line is the worst for holding these spirals, but all kite line tends to do this.  In the past, the kiter would have to run his fingernail down the line to Sheppard these coils to the end of the line, and this involved a number of walking trips from the bar to the larkshead.  The LineCrawler's brake simulates the fingernail, and by using selective pressure on the brake, the kiter can move the spirals on all 4 or 5 lines down the lines at once.  Many types of kite lines need this type of maintenance on a daily basis, when they are new, but I think that all kite lines will benefit from this treatment periodically.  This straightening of the lines may prevent a lot of the tangles which occur, and become a problem with self-launching...especially, with any type of drift-launching.  Q-power lines, some new Crossbow lines and some 2 year old Slingshot lines.
Konza Yep! After I got my "LineCrawler" on friday I was very curious because I tried to construct a thing like that a half year ago. Well, my construction didn't work - the "LineCrawler" does! I tested it 3 times to solve the famous "linesalat" and 1 time to connect it to the kite. Couldn't yet test the "controlled drifting away" of the kite in a selflaunching scenario - no wind for me since friday so i couldn't test it on our local lake.

First of all:
Even if it looks a bit cheap and unstable i can say it is definitly none of that. Okay, the material is just plastic and it's not made of carbon, but who will care about that as long as it will work for some years
Upper-frame and sub-frame are connected with elastics and and can be fixed together with a velcro. In the "LineCrawler" are two blocks made of hard rubber which work together like clamp and a "stop-button" that can stop the lines from running through.

Now the points in which you will be interested when you consider to buy a "LineCrawler":

1.)
The "LineCrawler" promises that you can untangle your lines in very small places while not attached to the kite:

Well, even I hate the famous "linesalat" I produced it 3 times in the last 3 days: Unwinded the lines and mixed them
Important is, that you notice, that the "LineCrawler" doesn't solve this problem just by pulling it through your lines! That won't work. The real method is: Pull the "LineCrawler" trough them till it won't go further, then untangle the next part of the lines, pull it again - untangle - pull and so on. You will notice that you will produce a bunch of lines on the other "side".
When you are through, pull it again through the lines to the other side - this will be very easy and fast, because the lines are already untangled. Then you are ready to wind up your lines and with the help of the "stopbutton" you are able to do that as tight as with the hand. So it works even with just 2m² space. Cool thing: You don't have to touch your lines when winding the lines up so that you won't have scratches because of salt and sand.

2.)
The "LineCrawler" promises that you can rapidly attach the lines to the kite tangle-free with minimal space:

Yes, that's definitly the best thing about it! Just unwind a bit of line next to the kite, connect the lines to the kite and unclip the "LineCrawler". -> Ready to go. If you don't want to unwind the lines when moving to start simply unwind them next to the kite, but don't throw your bar directly in your lines or they'll get tangled again. Put it in the kite or on the board for example.
 Waroo 4-Line Bar
Phlow As an engineer, my first impressions were: simple, well thought out, and solidly built of injected molded plastic.

Set out to play with it this afternoon with my North 2007 5th Element bar. Obviously the technique for a north style 5th line bar is a little different from illustrated on the site and in the documents which came wtih it; the crawler can only "crawl" from just above the front line Y to the kite (basically on the 5 line section of your lines, not on the 3 line section of your lines).

Wound and unwound bar several times, and each time flawlessly. If you have enough space to walk your lines all the way out its a no-brainer: drop the line crawler next to your pumped up kite, unwind the lines while walking the bar back, drop the bar, grab either rear line loosely and just walk back up to the kite (this undoes any twists in the line, if you ensure either rear line is clean, all 5 lines are guaranteed clean). Open the line crawler and connect the lines to the kite and you are guaranteed tangle and twist free.

For packing up with North 5th E, just clamp the line crawler on the lines just above the V, while lines are still connected to kite. Disconnect lines and wind up onto your bar, playing the line crawler up to the larks heads once you pass the V. guaranteed clean effort free launch next time.

I'm a dedicated 2 yr 5th element devotee, but it has added a little time to my launch. Out of habit, i got into the ritual of walking my rears out first, with the 3 center lines between my legs, then clearing the fronts and center line with another walk out lines between the legs pass. A little more time consuming, but ensures you dont get anything crossed trying to manage 5 lines simultaneously. This device eliminates the need for those extra steps. Should save a few minutes per launch, as well as simplifying tight space launches.

SkyShark Got mine today and gone for a rainy landboard session right away..
Tested it with my waroo and so far i gotta say GOOD JOB

1-simple
2-fast
3-user friendly
oh did i mention it really works? it does.

No more walking back and forth to the bar checking and untangling lines for sure.

Radical_Muz Got my linecrawler through the post this morning (that was quick).
Initial impressions on taking out of the packet is that this is a well put together and robust piece of kit which would stand up well to rolling about at the bottom of a kite bag/ dropped or stood on !!
I grabbed my bar and lines (06 xb2 bar) and unwound about 5-6 m of line on the lounge floor !!
I then messed the lines up and then attached the crawler to the lines nearest the bar. It worked ! In that all i had to do was walk the lines holding the crawler in my left hand while (shaking out) the tangles with my right.

Feeding the lines through was simple enough :
1. Just have to undo the velcro fastner at the top of the crawler (which then opens in half to reveal the 5 grooves in which you lay the lines)
2. Lay the lines (in order) along the grooves
3. Close the crawler and fasten using the velcro.

I let my girlfreind have a look !! (A non kiter !!!!!) She worked out how to use it right away.

I can see this being a usefull tool for definate when :
1. Untangling lines
2. Drift launching from a boat (being safe in the knowledge that the lines are not tangled) because if you use when winding the lines in during pack down you can leave it attached (keeping the lines in the correct order) for when you reconnect to kite.
3. Will be interested to see if it will be easy enough to use during packdown without becoming a hassle after a couple of sessions.
But the only way to find out is to go try !!!!!

devin Just got my linecrawler last night. Germany to Canada in 6 days, i'm impressed. haven't had a chance to get it out yet but the build quality looks very high. i don't think there's any chance of you breaking the linecrawler through any type of use or abuse. the only thing that might go would be the rubber bungees holding the two halves together, but those could be replaced very easily.

what i can say so far about it:

The Good:
-BRIGHT YELLOW (nearly impossible to lose on the beach or in low-light, night kiting sessions on snow)
-It floats!
-The tension button makes wrapping your lines up really easy.
...more to come as i get a chance to test it

The Bad:
-My 5th line is thicker than the rest of my lines and has a stopper ball on it...so the linecrawler only works above the stopper/thicker line

i'm looking forward to testing the linecrawler more. i've been using a piece of velcro to keep my lines in place, but this looks and works a lot neater. i'm very impressed with Robin's prompt responses and 'customer' service. he's a really stand-up guy from my experiences and i would have no problem picking another few of these up from him.
 5-Lines
mx5allan Not had much chance to test to it full potential but have done a few basic tests and so far well impressed.

Build/quality is very good no signs of rough or sharp edges which could damage your lines.

Thinking towards the future, if the two pars become seperated from over use... like the rubber connections perishing or break these can be replace with short length of thin kite line, meaning it will never wear out or need replacing (unless you loose it )

The line gripper also works well - haven't tested with the kite but I couldn't get the lines to pull through the crawler when it was gripped tightly, with no damage to my lines. Early indications show if you have it with you out on the water it could also help with self rescue as you can grip the line as you move towards the kite and dont have to wrap the line around your hand.

Tested it out on the beach for the first time Sunday...

And yes, it has reduced the setup time by loads...

Just tried a simple test today. Having already run the crawler down the lines earlier, I just unwound the line as I normally do, attached the crawler and fed it down the lines. At the kite - I removed just two lines and attached at the down wind end of the kite, the other 2 I kept in the crawler. Normally when setting up ARCs the upwind lines are kite span nearer so the lines can get all looped together and often need to be untwisted and checked again. Line Crawler kept the lines in order and all that was need was the 180 twist before attaching to the kite.

Walked back to the bar attached the safety and Launched.

End of session - ended by pulling the safety release and quickly tested the gripper to recover the kite and was able to move up the line easily, so looks like it will work for self recue too.
Was just doing a Landboard session so not tested the gripper in the water yet.

Fed the Crawler back up the lines while I wound the lines back on the bar and it was also working well with the lines covered in wet sand.

Twins Used it several times on different kites, with or without fifth line.

I think it has all been said.

The concept is very simple, everyone may have thought of something similar, homemade devices etc. but this is unbeatable.

This product is very simple, solid, compact... what else do you need? Price is also very acceptable.

This is darn interesting. This little device the size of a AA flashlight acts like a spindle as well as a manager. One pass and the slick plastic surface easily allows the lines to untwist at the same time they are being sorted. That is nice! The thing is locked on the lines while the process is going on... you can set it down and then come back to it and not lose a thing. I like that.
Gosh, this could be the perfect device for snowkiting! One pass down the lines saves huge time, and once thats done, if you pack it right, its ready for you to hook em up, unwind and go.

I'm not used to this. I am going to rig better and launch much faster now,
straight lines every time. Thats an advantage I'll gladly accept!

It really is a top notch device that delivers what it was designed for.
I think you are going to make life easier and safer for kiters everywhere!

I'm hoping I can use my pre-sorted bar on one of my kites soon.
I'll be using it with Ocean Rodeo kites, the Diablo and the One.
I run both styles of kites, the hybrid and the bow, on 5 lines.
Ocean Rodeo Diablo, One 5-Lines
joeag This device is awesome. I used mine on the beach for the first time yesterday (after setting it up on the lines at home) and it works exactly as advertised. Layout the kite, attach the lines to the kite, unroll the bar and you are good to go without any further delays. I use mine with Peter Lynn Venom 2 kites, and I can launch within 5 minutes of hitting the beach.

The line crawler is especially great for self landing an arc. Because the arc spins a couple times when you flag it out to leash, your lines will end up with a few twists that used to require walking out prior to next session/relaunch. Now, with the crawler, you just unhook the lines from the kite, go back to bar, attach line crawler at the bar end, wind the lines as normal, and you are good to go!

Killer device!

S29Feb Got mine the other day and since the mother in law was round chatting with the wife went and made a 'line salad' in the hall and the crawler sorted it out no probs.
This bar has only been used once as the kit is new and the lines on it were particularly pesky, kinking very easily but I had no probs sorting and winding them very neatly.
12m Naish Shockwave, and a Slingshot TD 14m both on 4 line bars
si-fly2 Have now used the line crawler 3 times and have not had to walk lines to remove twists at all. It really does speed up launch on a cold wet British beach, where lines stick together and don't want to untwist!! flexi, flysurfer, and a set of powerline pro
palerider We've just entered snow kiting season here, and I began using the Line Crawler for the first time this week. After doing some modifications to my bar set-up that required me to remove my lines, I was able to cleanly/correctly reconnect and wind-up the lines in a small area in my living room by using it (too cold to go outside to do it). Sure enough, when I pulled out my bar on a snowfield yesterday and unwound, the lines were already perfect - didn't need to run them. Definitely saved me setup time out in the cold. 16m Ocean Rodeo One kite/bar/lines
